Examples of Direct Machining of Quenched Steel

Introducing examples of direct machining of hardened steel for mobile phone cavity cores and fine screws!

Our company has a proven track record of using special steel materials tailored to various applications, including pre-hardened steel, hardened steel, powder high-speed steel, carbide, and non-magnetic steel to create molds. As an example, we would like to introduce a case of machining a hardened steel mobile phone cavity core using the processing machine 'CEGA-542 (Roku-Roku)' with direct engraving. 【Case Study】 ◎ Mobile Phone Cavity Core ■ Material: STAVAX (HRC52) ■ Machining Size: 150×100×30mm → Achieved no discharge by corner machining with the minimum R → Achieved no polishing by creating a uniform finishing surface For more details, please refer to our catalog or feel free to contact us.

Basic Knowledge of Mold Design: Mold Cavity and Core

The cavity is designed with a slope to make it easier to remove the molded product from the mold! When the mold opens, the molded product sticks to the core!

The mold is divided into convex and concave parts surrounding the molded product. The convex part is called the core, and the concave part is called the cavity; the core is referred to as the male mold, and the cavity as the female mold. When the cavity and core come together, a hollow space is created, and by injecting plastic into that hollow space, the molded product is completed. The cavity is designed with a slope to facilitate the easy removal of the molded product from the mold. Therefore, the moment the mold opens, the molded product will separate from the cavity. When the mold opens, the molded product sticks to the core. After the mold is fully opened, the molded product on the core side is pushed out by a pin that extracts it from the mold. Thus, when attaching the mold to the injection molding machine, the cavity must always be the fixed side, and the core must be the movable side. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.*
